Dead TreeMontana University is entering a research partnership with Idaho universities to view biofuel options. The research study will take a look at how to turn trees which were killed by beetles into viable and renewable energy.

Dead trees in the Rocky Mountains and other areas across the state will be taken into consideration during the new focus. The main idea is to create a new industry which will provide additional biofuel benefits.

Montana University as well as Montana State University will work side by side the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University in endeavors. Other organizations involved will include the United States Forest Service, Cool Planet Energy Systems, as well as the National Renewable Energy Lab.

The new project focus will include learning how to remove the trees from public lands, and take them to remote locations for increased efficiency of use. The study will also view environmental impact, social concerns, and local policy restraints.

The final outcome of the research study involving Montana will be interesting. The ability to create clean as well as renewable energy will also potentially bring new jobs to the state and provide America with a better future.
